My Trip To Japan

Discovering the Wonders of Japan: A Journey Through Tokyo, Mount Fuji, Osaka and Kyoto

Konnichiwa!!

Japan was on my bucketlist forever and I finally got the chance to travel there in 2024 for cherry blossom season (April).

Japan has something for everyone whether you're wandering through bustling city streets, immersing yourself in serene landscape or indulging in exquisite cuisine. In this blog, I will share bits and pieces of my my 2-week vacation where I was able to explore 4 cities: Tokyo, Kawaguchiko (to see Mount Fuji), Osaka, and Kyoto.

Tokyo: The Urban Marvel

I started my adventure in Tokyo, the capital city filled with energy and innovation. I visited the iconic Shibuya Crossing, where you can experience the organized chaos of one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections. I explored the vibrant neighbourhoods such as Shinjuku, Harajuku and Akihabara; each boasting unique styles and cultures. In the city, I enjoyed a bit of shopping but most importantly buying and trying amazing Japanese snacks.

Kawaguchiko (to see Mount Fuji): The Majestic Symbol of Japan

I could not leave Japan without visiting Mount Fuji. This majestic peak is not only a UNESCO World Heritage site but also a significant cultural symbol. Whether you choose to hike its trails during the summer months or admire it from afar in the picturesque landscapes surrounding Lake Kawaguchi, the beauty of Mount Fuji is sure to leave you in awe. I was lucky enough to go on a full day tour on the clearest day of the year, giving amazing views!

Osaka: The Culinary Capital

One of my top experiences of visiting Japan, was taking the bullet train. Next city stop was to Osaka, known for its vibrant food scene and friendly atmosphere. This bustling metropolis is often referred to as the "Kitchen of Japan," and for good reason. Dive into local delicacies like takoyaki (octopus balls), okonomiyaki (savory pancakes), and the ever-popular kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers). My favourite area was Dotonbori, with its neon lights and bustling streets, is the perfect place to indulge in these tasty treats. During the day, I took the local subway and explore the history of Osaka at places such as the Osaka Castle, where you can learn about the city’s storied past while enjoying scenic views from its top.

Kyoto: The Heart of Tradition

Your journey would be incomplete without a visit to Kyoto, often regarded as Japan’s cultural heart. The city is home to stunning temples, beautiful gardens, and historic districts. Wander through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, where towering stalks of bamboo create a serene atmosphere. I got to visit Gion, the iconic geisha district, which was beautiful and calm. During my stay in Kyoto, I got to experience wearing a Kimono and walking around the city taking pictures!

Traveling to Japan offers a fulfilling blend of excitement, culture, and natural beauty. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, Japan never ceases to amaze and inspire. So pack your bags and get ready for an unforgettable journey!
